Roche / Fuzeon
FUZEON is the first in a class of ARVs called fusion inhibitors. In clinical trials where FUZEON was used in combination with other antiretroviral agents in treatment-experienced patients, reductions in viral load and increases in CD4 counts were observed.
FUZEON indication:
FUZEON in combination with other antiretroviral agents is indicated for the treatment of HIV-1 infection in treatment-experienced patients with evidence of HIV-1 replication despite ongoing antiretroviral therapy.
This indication is based on results from two controlled studies of 48 weeks' duration. Subjects enrolled were treatment-experienced adults, many with advanced disease. There are no studies of FUZEON in antiretroviral-naïve patients.
FUZEON has been investigated in over 1,000 treatment-experienced patients in a global clinical trial program conducted in North America, Brazil, Europe and Australia. Observations in these trials found the use of FUZEON in combination with other antiretroviral drugs to result in significant reductions in viral load and increases in CD4 cell count at 48 weeks.
